François’ Mikulski’s father was Lieutenant Mieczyslaw Mikulski who escaped from occupied Poland in 1939, fleeing to England and joining the Resistance troops of the Free Polish Forces. There he met his future wife, a Burgundian woman working on an English army base, and moved to Brussels where François was born and raised. Luckily for us and the world of wine, François spent his formative summers in Burgundy, where he fell in love with the agrarian lifestyle and determined that he would one day make wine himself. He inherited his first plots of Meursault in 1992 from his late uncle, Pierre Boillot. Since that time, he has relentlessly pursued his authenticity, purity and elegance through acute attention to biological balance in the vineyard and terroir minded élevage practices in the cellar.

ABOUT THE DOMAINE
Jean-Marc Pillot is the fourth generation of his branch of the Pillot family to tend vineyards in Chassagne Montrachet. He joined his father, Jean, in 1985 to learn the craft of “vigneron”. After six years of working side-by-side, Jean-Marc assumed the direction of the domaine in 1991 with the assistance of his wife, Nadine, and his sister, Beatrice.
The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Harvest is manual. The white wines are almost all fermented and aged in barrel with a regimen of 10% to 30% new oak (the degree depending on the structure and importance of the wine). The wines are aged on the fine lees for twelve months and then are racked out of barrel into stainless steel tanks to clarify and settle naturally for an additional six months. The extra aging avoids the necessity to cold stabilize the wine.

"Mostly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, all grown on chalk, this wine seems to layer that chalk’s seabed heritage into beautiful richness, as it combines different parcels aged in stainless steel, oak barrels or concrete. This offers a soft impression of fruit from ancient fossilized soil, one that made me smile at the glory of Champagne." — 96 points, Wine & Spirits magazine

Flowers Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2020Regular price $50.00 Save $-50.00
As nursery owners in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Walt and Joan Flowers had long dreamed of combining their love of wine with their passion for agriculture. They knew they wanted to produce their favorite varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; what they didn’t know was that their path would eventually lead them across the country to Northern California’s rugged Sonoma Coast. After responding to a small classified ad in a national wine publication, that’s exactly where they landed.
In 1989, after many information-gathering trips to Napa and Sonoma, Walt and Joan purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. With the same determination they drew on to build their successful nursery business; the Flowers proceeded with the dream of producing their favorite cool-climate varietals in a place they believed uniquely suited to growing them.
Bright citrus notes, white flower, nuances of dried apricot and hints of flint. Palate is energetic with acidity and tension balanced with flavors of orchard fruit and almond, finishing long and bright.

Benoit Marguet Champagne 1er Cru Brut Nature 'Sapience' 2011Regular price $199.00 Save $-199.00
Variety: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Munier
Benoit is a 5th generation winemaker turning to very innovative and anything-but-conventional methods at his family domaine. The conversion to organics and biodynamics aside, his vineyard practice employs horses and aromatherapy, and to walk around the cellar you’ll find barrels painted purple and small Buddhas perched as if to watch over the room. It is easy to tell he takes great care in every step of what he does, in hopes, and execution, of finding balance not just in his winemaking, but also in life.
A Prestige Champagne is the first of its kind to be vinified with natural methods and certified organically. The project is a collaboration of four great wine minds-- Benoit Maguet, Benoit Lahayem, Vincent Laval, and David Laclapart. The idea is to craft the highest quality wine using biodynamic methods in Champagne. The base wine spends two years aging on forest selection barrels before the second fermentation. The wine is released after nine years. When this bottle has been blind tasted next to top cru Champagnes including Salon, Krug, and others, it continually achieves the highest ratings blind. With less than 3000 bottles produced it can be hard to come by.

Mount Eden Vineyards Santa Cruz Mountains Reserve Chardonnay 2016Regular price $89.00 Save $-89.00
The 2016 Chardonnay Reserve is the stuff dreams are made of. Towering and statuesque in its pedigree, the Reserve shows why the Santa Cruz Mountains is such a special place. The 2016 is deep, powerful and intense, and yet it remains remarkably finessed as well. Tangerine oil, mint, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes all develop with a few hours of aeration. The Reserve is a blend of 11 barrels (all neutral oak) that spends its second winter on its lees in tank, an approach that is common in Burgundy, but that is not often seen in California. All I can say is: Wow! - Vinous, 97 points
Calera Mount Harlan Chardonnay 2017Regular price $55.00 Save $-55.00
Calera’s Mt. Harlan Vineyards are located in the Gavilan Mountains 25 miles east of the Monterey Bay. The site was chosen for its limestone soils and ideal climate. At an average elevation of 2,200 feet it is among the highest and coolest vineyard sites in California.
Grown high on the limestone-rich soils of Mt. Harlan, this is a sleek and sophisticated expression of cool-climate Chardonnay, with alluring aromas of guava, Mandarin orange, fennel and hints of cedar. On the palate, the wine’s lovely weight and lush texture is balanced by a bright natural acidity that adds purity and precision to the generous white peach and passionfruit flavors.

Vinous 93-95 PTS
“The 2018 Chardonnay Wingtine is a blend of fruit from the estate and Charles Heintz, which is right next door. Precise and beautifully focused, the Wingtine is a brilliant wine with tons of potential. Lemon peel, white floral, mint, chalk and chamomile all grace this exquisite, vibrant Chardonnay. The 2018 is just gorgeous. The blend of the two sites works so well here.”

Varietal: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
A blend of mostly 2015, with some 2014 and 2013, the Mouzon-Leroux l’Atavique is a savory and wild expression from the grand cru village of Verzy. Produced from certified organic (practicing biodynamic) Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, Sébastien Mouzon crafts a masterful Champagne. Texturally, l’Atavique tends to the leaner side of Champagne but aromatically offers dark fruit, sweet herbs, and a lightly smokey character that hints at the flinty soils of Verzy.

Ternynck Amphore Chablis 2018Regular price $42.00 Save $-42.00
Natural It's rare when we get to try a wine we've never imagined before, yet here it is! This is a Chablis fermented and aged on its skins in clay Amphora for a full year! The resulting wine is deep gold in color. The profile actually has some of the expected Chablis notes of almond and hazelnut, but other, deeper notes like ginger, and apricot jam are present as well. The palate has loads of minerality, fine tannins, and a very persistent finish. Awesome Chablis that will upset the traditionalists!
Peake Ranch Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2016Regular price $38.00 Save $-38.00
This bright and energetic Chardonnay is everything we love about the Central Coast. The fresh notes of lemon zest, jasmine, apricot, freshly-fluffed cotton, and chamomile create grace within the glass. Pale, yellow stone in color and elegantly focused.
