Pierre Peters Montjolys Blanc De Blancs Brut 2013Regular price $299.00 Save $-299.00
White flowers and freshly baked bread evolves to citrus. Once aerated, the first notes of biscuit and hazelnut make way to a vivid chalky minerality. The attack is very pure and intense with aromatics of green apple and a lemon confit center.
“Le Montjoly” is situated in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil sur Oger and enjoys higher percentage of clay and deeper soil than most of the other sites of the village. Seven parcels from this terroir, yield the grapes used to make this extremely rare and already sought after cuvee. They are vinified separately and undergo different vinifications. Each vintage age at least 6 years on the lees before disgorgement.
“ The enthusiasm over this wine all over the world is huge—and that’s before anyone has had a chance to taste a mature bottle. Mesnil’s wines take a long time to mature, but champagne from Peters offers from the start an accessible fruitiness that resembles tangerine and a large portion of butterscotch and nut aromas. With age they become majestic and deep as a water well, full of coffee and walnut aromas and a fleeting vibrant exotic fruitiness. Pierre Péters is a hidden treasure of Champagne . . . and the prices are laughable considering the quality of the wines.”
