Monchiero 'Castiglione Falletto' Barolo 2019
96 Points Kerin O'Keefe
Showing more structure than the La Morra bottling, the gorgeous 2019 Comune di Castiglione Falletto from Monchiero is a classic Barolo. Boasting aromas and flavors of camphor, rose, forest floor, ripe red berry and baking spice, it also has great energy and tension thanks to firm, refined tannins and fresh acidity. Notes of licorice and mint linger on the finish.
Monchiero 'Le Rocche di Castiglione' Barolo 2019
96 Points Kerin O'Keefe
The 2019 Rocche di Castiglione from Monchiero is elegantly structured but also youthfully austere, one of the defining traits of this great vintage. Showing the famed cru’s trademark of intense perfumes, it opens with alluring aromas of camphor, wild rose and woodland berry while the linear palate features Morello cherry, cranberry, licorice and crushed mint. Tightly woven but refined tannins provide support while bright acidity keeps it balanced. A great expression of the both the vintage and the vineyard site.
